September: 2026 Has Been A Blur!
Hi Video Kickstarters!
I went into my annual eye exam expecting a simple prescription update, but I walked out realizing just how blurry the past year had been.
When the doctor asked how I'd been doing, my answer felt less like a real-life update and more like a heavy TV drama.
The year opened with complications surrounding my late mother's probate in the Virgin Islands, and the sale of her land. My husband had health scares that put us in more waiting rooms than I want to count. I launched a Skool community a space I deeply wish had existed when I first got started. In March the sale went on hold over a tiny address error on the deed, but thankfully, after months of emails and phone calls, it finally closed in late June. And then by the end of July, I had sadly lost three family members.
As she handed me my new prescription, along with a firm nudge to take a real break, it finally clicked: the blur wasn't in my vision, it was in my life.
Encouraged by her advice, I decided to take all of August off.
But before I did, I sat down for a raw life audit, looking closely at six main areas of my life.
What I saw completely stunned me.
The perfectionism I thought was a business and video issue was running through everything. My health. My creative work. The things I used to do just because they brought me joy. Same voice was running through all of it!
I realized I was wearing every possible hat because I was afraid relying on just one thing wouldn't be enough. Trying to be a helper to everyone with everything was quietly wearing me down to nothing.
Because of that realization, August turned into a true break instead of just another month packed with five brand-new projects, which is what I had planned before the audit caught me.
Less really is more.
That's the one goal I'm holding onto now. The rest I'm setting down.
I used to hold on tight to commitments because I was terrified of letting anyone down or looking flaky. I don't feel that way anymore. Moving forward, I'm focusing strictly on what brings genuine joy and keeps the lights on.
So this September, our main focus is all about Simplifying.
Letting go of the overwhelming pressure to have it all figured out or be perfect.
What's one hat or project you're ready to set down this month?
Send me a quick reply and share. I love hearing from you and read every single note.
Happy Creating,
