Edie Clarke

I’m Edie Clarke. I spent years in video production, but always behind the camera. When I started my own business in 2013, getting on camera meant hiding my age, my weight, and scarring alopecia under a hairpiece. I built confidence the way I now teach it: faceless videos first, then the corner of the frame, then opening the video, then direct to camera. In 2020 the pandemic made the hairpiece impossible to maintain. I shaved my head and posted the video before anyone could ask questions, the last insecurity, gone on my own terms. I call it the Visibility Ladder. It’s what I teach service entrepreneurs now. Start where the camera feels least terrifying, climb from there, and build a video presence that gets you found and seen by your future clients.

They didn't work because the issue was never that I couldn't write. It was that I was trying to start with writing. The fix wasn't learning to write...

I failed 9th grade English

June 2026 June: Permission Hi Video Kickstarters! My sister was the rebel. I was the obedient one. We grew up in the Virgin Islands, two years apart, at the same elementary school. And then her 5th grade year, she transferred to a new school — one with a teacher who was obsessed with writing. From day one, he assigned every student a composition book. Essays every single day, no exceptions. She'd come home and show my mother the book. And as the weeks and months went by, she got better....

Why I hid for years from the camera | May Newsletter

May 2026 May: When the Camera Became Safe Hi Video Kickstarters! For thirty years, I hid my head. Not metaphorically. Literally. And here's the part that still stings a little: I worked in television production. I knew cameras better than most people. I built my career behind them. But the woman who...
